About Olivia Cameron

Soldier, designer, and pilgrim — my path has shaped the way I witness. Photography, for me, is about stillness, presence, and patience — waiting for that split-second where meaning and motion collide.

My Journey

Grounded in Experience, Focused on Story

I started Olivia Cameron Photography in 2022, driven by a desire to capture moments that truly matter. I’ve been fortunate to work alongside people in roles where trust, discretion, and professionalism are essential — including the Department of Defence, Australian Border Force, and a few others.

From Military Life to Photography

My path into photography wasn’t typical. Beginning in 2014 with the Australian Army, I learned the value of teamwork, resilience, and calm under pressure — lessons that quietly guide my work behind the camera every day.

A Design Perspective

While serving in the Army Reserves, I completed a Bachelor of Design (Honours) at QUT and worked at a boutique design studio in Brisbane. This chapter helped me see photography not just as pictures, but as thoughtful communication — a way to connect people and ideas.

Returning to full-time service as an Imagery Specialist broadened my experience, giving me opportunities to capture stories both at home and abroad. I also earned a Certificate IV in Photography and was humbled to be named DUX of the Australian Defence Force Imagery Specialist Program.

Rooted in Connection

After a decade of living and working across Australia and overseas, I’m back home in Brisbane / Meanjin. Recently, I walked the Camino de Santiago, a journey that slowed me down and deepened my understanding of presence and connection.

That experience reinforced what I believe about photography: it’s not just about taking pictures, but about genuinely seeing the people in front of the camera — capturing moments with patience and respect.

Here to Serve Your Story

If you’re looking for a photographer who listens, stays calm, and works hard to tell your story authentically, I’d love to hear from you.
